AGM ~ Early Notice
To Members and Friends of the 'Friends of the Tay Watershed':
Early Notice!
– Annual General Meeting, Open House and Exhibition, – November 22, 2005; 7:00 pm; Canadian Legion Hall, Perth
This is an early notice to our members and ‘Friends’ to mark your calendars for our annual meeting, and a public open house and exhibition, on our watershed water resources and the environment.
The exhibit area has been expanded again this year - to include displays and information on an even larger range of interesting subjects of our local water resources and environment - with organizations and experts able to answer your questions.
Among the subjects that will be featured are: the status of our rural and town water supplies; programs to upgrade your septic system, well, and shoreline; the recently inaugurated Lake Management Planning Program; new water legislation issues; mining claims; school programs; local wildlife resources; energy conservation; watershed information systems; and much more.
This year our AGM will also include a watershed heritage theme with displays on:
- The photo series "Mills of the Tay - 2005" (a joint project with the Lanark Camera Club)
- The ‘Walker Boat Works’ in Perth, with Jack Walker’s St. Lawrence rowing skiff on display
- The Rideau Canal's 175th Anniversary Celebration
- The new "Tay Trail" in Perth (and its ‘Tales along the Tay’)
The evening will also feature presentations on:
Fascinating stories of the watershed of the past, by Susan Code
New Funding for the Lake Management Planning Program
Source Water Protection (by the new RVCA source protection manager)
Please mark your calendar and tell your friends - the open house and meeting are open to the public. Young people are especially welcome!
Watch for more detailed information in the next two weeks, by mail and on our web site.
Thank you for your support. We hope to see you there.
