Press Release – September 4, 2005
Tay Watershed Lake Planning Program
Appoints Program Manager
The organisers of the ‘Lake Management Planning Program for the Tay watershed region’, which was unveiled in July, have confirmed the appointment of a Program Manager, effective at the beginning of September. Sheanna Tinlin will be Manager of the Program, housed at the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority offices in Manotick. Ms. Tinlin, a graduate in Marine Biology from Dalhousie University, has been a Watershed Planning Technician at the Conservation Authority.
Ms. Tinlin’s responsibilities will include technical guidance to participating lake groups, including the assembly and provision of lake planning information, and the organization of joint workshops and training events for the transfer of lake planning methodology to volunteer workers.
The Lake Management Planning Program is a coalition of five local associations and regional organizations, including the Otty Lake Association, Friends of the Tay Watershed Association, Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, Tay Valley Township and the Community Stewardship Council of Lanark County.
The Program will provide training and guidance to lake volunteer organizations in developing and managing their lake plans, for lakes in the Tay watershed and Tay Valley Township. Initial funding for the program has been received from The Community Stewardship Council of Lanark County and the Rideau Lakes Environmental Foundation – and additional funds are expected from other donor organizations.
